Roland Martin

Roland S. Martin is a nationally award-winning journalist who has an extreme passion for education. A board member of the education reform group, StudentsFirst, Martin has advocated for school choice in his various roles on radio, TV, newspaper, magazine and online. He has also spoken at school choice conferences, and led various seminars and workshops on the matter. He has been a longtime advocate, having attended a school of communications magnet high school in Houston. Martin, the 2013 National Association of Black Journalists Journalist of the Year, is host and managing editor of TV One Cable Network’s NewsOneNow, the first one-hour daily morning show dedicated to news for African Americans. He also hosts his own daily nationally syndicated radio show. Since October 2008, Martin has been senior analyst for The Tom Joyner Morning Show, the nation’s largest nationally syndicated morning show, and he is a columnist for TheDailyBeast.com. Martin has won more than 40 professional awards and is one of the nation’s most sought after speakers. He is a 1991 graduate of Texas A&M University and is the author and publisher of five books.
