These tools will afford girls a chance to make choices that level the playing field for them to effectively compete in a global society as bourgeoning entrepreneurs. By fostering creativity and instilling an appetite for business ownership and executive level leadership, the girls develop self-discipline, self-confidence, self-worth, self-esteem, and a sense of personal pride and accomplishment. About Girl, CEO, Lead Like a Girl Project

Girl, CEO: Lead Like A Girl! project exists to provide girls and young ladies an opportunity to develop business and leadership skills necessary to be a successful entrepreneur. Each participant will engage in self-discovery and team building exercises; learn to articulate their needs, wants, and desires through speaking and interviewing activities; learn internet research and library skills to understand and practice business writing, financial responsibility, and the layers of accountability of business ownership. A camp of all participating girls exists to provide girls the platform to share and pitch their business ideas and concepts in a safe environment to nurture and hone skills that lead to success and future business development.

Participating groups, individuals, or clusters have the opportunity to offer programming

1. Throughout the year over a period of 4-6 weekends

2. As summer outreach/camp format 2-3 months

3. On a monthly basis over a period of time once a week for an hour

4. School in-service days

5. Detention or alternative programming

6. As an elective for an entrepreneurship program

During sessions, girls will be engaged in practice activity and learning that fits the overall goal and learning required for Girl, CEO. Girls are partnered with or participate in an incubator-style learning-track, with an industry professional, participating business, or other platform.

All incubator leaders or industry professionals go through the 1-to- 3-day Girl, CEO Leadership Professional Development Training. Girl, CEO participants will work alongside and have exposure and experience that suits their interests. In each of our partner environments continued training will exist in an effort to provide cohesion and content mastery of skills needed to execute their personal vision and plan either through Girl, CEO, or after program completion. The Girl CEO ‘after-care’ program is available for program participants over their lifetime or span of their business to assist, facilitate, or encourage on-going success their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Where Girl, CEO is implemented in a school environment, programming options are adaptable. Administrators can determine the best time for girls to be engaged in Girl, CEO programming activities. The ability to meet once a month or weekly in a face-to-face setting allows for organic integration in the participants school week, providing the opportunity to focus on selected projects, mastery, and activities assigned that month to complete any one of several objects of Girl, CEO. Parents also have the option to have their daughters participate in Girl, CEO program under their direction and guidance through a self-paced process. This type of format builds communication skills with the home between parents and daughters when an actual business is launched. Parent support and engagement is crucial to the entrepreneurial spirit and meeting the goals and objectives of starting a business of any kind. Girls participating in ‘launch’ activities will be partnered with other kid-preneurs and parents to assist with additional layers of child-led, yet parent-supervised business ownership.

Objective 1: Engage Establish entrepreneurship incubators within communities where young girls age 11 and older can participate and thrive.

Objective 2: Educate Collaborate and maintain a level of engagement and awareness to assess and monitor program activity and proficiency of program opportunities.

Objective 3: Collaboration Work with community and business leaders to expand activities that support the strengthening, preservation, and development of skills and behavior that lead to entrepreneurship.

Objective 4: Evaluate Track the girl’s entrepreneurial successes. Observe and evaluate program opportunities to ensure fulfilling the grant’s project reporting requirements.

Objective 5: Initiate Provide girls learning encounters that enhance the knowledge, awareness, competency, and understanding of the capacity of girls.
